How is it that some people seem to roll out of bed with perfect hair every day, while most of us have a serious case of bed hair? No matter what we do, it seems that we’re always destined to have a bad hair day! Even if we do manage to tame the wild beast, fast forward a couple of hours later and it seems like we’re back to square one. However, there are some things you can do to tackle life’s hairy moments and to help your hair look salon-perfect. We’re sharing our favourite hacks to ensure you’re always having a good hair day.

Get to know your hair

While it might be tempting to grab any old hair product off the shelf or go for whatever is looking good that week, the reality is that everyone’s hair is different and has different needs. Your hair might be oily, dry, damaged, thick, thin, fine…the list goes on. It’s the same as tailoring your skincare routine to your specific skin type. Your hair will respond much better if you are using the correct products – including the right shampoo and conditioner!

Get friendly with dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is such a versatile hair product and can be used to revive hair in so many different ways! If your hair is looking a little oily but you didn’t have time to wash it (or you hit your snooze button!), a little dry shampoo will work wonders for soaking up excess oil and refreshing your locks before stepping out the door. If your hair is looking a little flat, dry shampoo is great for adding in some texture and volume. Spritz the roots and flip your hair over, working the product in with your fingers.

Hydrate for health

Hydrated hair is healthy hair and healthy hair is the most important step to avoid the dreaded bad hair days! When your hair is looking vibrant, shiny and full of life, it’s easy to look like you just woke up with the perfect ‘do. Keep your hair moisturised and hydrated by using a deep conditioning mask once or twice per week. Avoid over-washing and stripping the natural oils from your hair by shampooing only two to three times per week.

Go easy on the heat

While we agree that perfect waves or an amazing straight pony are sure-fire ways to have a good hair day, unfortunately, your hair doesn’t always agree with that. Continual use of heat styling products damages our hair and cause it to become dry, brittle and lacklustre – making it more difficult to tame in the mornings! Try giving your hair a much-deserved break from the heat and only to styling it on occasion.

Master your go-to ‘do

Having a good hair day is so much easier when you have a go-to hairstyle that just works every time. Get creative and try a few different styles – everything from braids to buns – and work on perfecting it until you can do it in under five minutes. This will save you so much time and stress when you are getting ready for the day!
