If you’re anything like us, you’re excited that summer is finally here! Between beach days, longer nights and holiday festivities, there’s plenty to love about this time of year. As with any new season, our hair needs and preferences change. Summer is all about low maintenance hairstyles that are quick to put together in the morning and require little effort, while still looking amazing. When the weather heats up, we tend to opt for an up-do and a style that will stay put no matter what adventures the day holds for us. So if you’re after a little summer ‘do inspiration, you’ve come to the right place!
The sleek high pony
This one suits any season and occasion in our opinion – you really can’t beat a high slicked-back pony! It’s a great option for summer as it keeps your hair up and out of your face, especially on really hot days. Whether you prefer your pony straight, curly, or anywhere in between, this is definitely one of our go-to’s for summer.
The half up half down bun
While you may feel like tying your hair up all summer long due to the heat, humidity and sweat, there will be some occasions where you still want to wear your hair down! We love a good half up half down ‘do and tying the top half of your hair into a messy bun ads to that naturally messy summer look. This look also works well if you’ve just come home from the beach and need to do something with your locks ASAP – beachy waves anyone?
Dutch braids
Similar to french braids, except the braids sit outside of the hair and not inside. Dutch braids have certainly been trending for the last few years and it’s not hard to see why! They keep all your hair neatly in place, out of the way, and can even last for a couple of days (depending on how tight you can do them). Plus, they look super cute! We will definitely be rocking dutch braids this summer.
Low scrunchie bun
Low buns are just the best, aren’t they? They’re quick, easy, and effective! The perfect hairstyle for when you just need to get out the door. We love adding a little something extra to our low buns by popping a scrunchie around them. Scrunchies are the best for taking any hairstyle to the next level – or hiding messy locks!
Side fishtail
Fishtail braids are so much fun and take regular braids up a notch. Instead of simply plaiting your hair to the side, try mastering the fishtail braid for a super cute look. Practice makes perfect with this style but once you have it down pat, you can be out the door with time to spare. Simply secure your hair to one side in a low ponytail and split the pony in half into two even sections. Begin by taking a small piece of hair from the outside of one section and crossing it over the top, through the middle and under the second section. Repeat on the other side. Continue your fishtail braid and secure at the end.
