How many times have you walked past someone with perfectly sleek and smooth hair and felt totally envious? We’ve all been there! Whether it’s the rain, the humidity or just the way your hair likes to act, frizz can get the better of us in any situation. It can be anything from constant stray hairs to wildly unmanageable locks, but it’s enough to have you spending the day constantly trying to smooth everything down. While there are many things that can cause our hair to become frizzy, all hope is not lost! We have some great essential tips for you when it comes to trying to tame your unpredictable locks.

Use a microfibre hair towel

While the first thing you might want to do is change all your hair products, you should also address your after-shower routine. Whether you ring your hair out with your hands or try to soak up any water by scrubbing at your head with a towel, you’re likely contributing to the frizz factor as soon as you step out of the shower. Regular cotton towels can cause major frizz and so we suggest switching to a microfibre hair towel. It’s gentle on the hair and can even dry it faster, all without causing frizz.

Sleep on silk

Much like regular towels, your regular pillowcase may be doing more harm than good. Our hair tends to get tangled up as we sleep and cotton pillowcases can snag and catch at our locks, causing you to wake up with some serious frizz. Silk pillowcases are much more gentle and can prevent hair from knotting and tangling during the night. The result? Waking up with smooth, friction-free hair!

Take a break from the heat tools

Dry and damaged hair is much more susceptible to frizz and if you’re a regular heat styler, this may be why you’re finding your hair so unmanageable. Heat tools can cause a build-up in our hair, making those frizzy symptoms more likely to present themselves. Try your hand at some cute heatless hairstyles and when you do need to reach for the straightener or curling iron, always use a heat protectant.

Make use of a hydrating hair mask

The dryer our hair is, the more likely frizz is to present itself. A hair mask is a great way to nourish your locks and provide them with some essential hydration. We love using a hair mask one to two nights per week to give our hair moisture and to help keep those flyaways at bay.

Always have hair-smoothing products on hand

If frizz is becoming a serious problem for you, we recommend investing in some hair-smoothing products to use as part of your hair care routine. You can use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner in the shower or choose to go with something that can be spritz on or finger-combed through post hair wash. It’s always a great idea to choose formulas that are going to be nourishing and hydrating as well as lightweight – a winning combination for frizz-free goodness!

Get a keratin treatment

Keratin treatments are a process that smooths out frizzy hair and leaves it silky and smooth. They are non-damaging to hair and work to strengthen your locks. A keratin treatment is one of the best ways to combat frizz!
