We know what you did last summer – to your hair, that is! With summer officially over, it’s time to hit the reset button on your locks and revive those strands that may have experienced some summer damage. Whether you spent your summer days by the beach or pool, it can be one of the harshest seasons when it comes to our hair. To help keep your strands healthy and thriving, we’ve got our best tips for recovering from the summer that was!
Clarify, clarify, clarify
After a summer filled with sun, surf and sand, chances are your locks need a little rest and relaxation. The warm weather can result in a build-up of dirt, sweat and products such as dry shampoo. A clarifying shampoo is a fantastic way to ensure you are really giving your strands the clean they deserve and getting rid of that build-up. Try using a clarifying shampoo 1-2 times per week. You’ll even notice that by doing this, your other hair care products will be able to penetrate your locks even better.
It’s all about the leafy greens
Summertime is certainly a time to indulge (it’s one of the best parts about the last few months!), but sometimes our hair doesn’t feel quite the same way. Try to include lots of leafy greens in your diet, not to mention plenty of fruits and healthy fats. Foods such as these do wonders for healthy hair and a healthy scalp, helping to keep them nourished, hydrated and full of life.
Schedule in those pamper sessions
There is nothing better than pampering yourself with a good hair mask or hydrating hair oil! Set aside a little time each week to use a hydrating hair mask as this will do wonders for your locks, which may be experiencing damage from so much sun exposure or post-swim showers. If your hair needs a little extra hydration on top of that, try using a nourishing hair oil on the mid-lengths to the ends.
Try to opt for up-dos
Summer is full of events, parties and catch-ups with friends. Unfortunately, this can mean a lot of stress for your hair. Chances are, your hair has seen a lot of heat styling over the last few months! Make an effort to put the straightener and curling iron away and master a few cute up-dos. Trust us, your hair will reap the benefits!
