How many times have you opted to skip a workout to keep your hair looking fresh and fabulous? We’re all guilty! If you have just washed your hair or had an amazing blowout, the last thing you want to do is complete a sweaty workout. If you’re an avid gym-goer, it might feel as if your hair is never clean! If you have plans to meet up with friends, need to be at work or just don’t have time to wash your hair, you might feel like it’s better to just skip the gym altogether. Here are our favourite handy hacks for keeping your hair fresh between sweat sessions.

Prep before the gym

If you know you’re going to be working out, the best thing to do is prep beforehand. This is where our favourite versatile product comes in: dry shampoo. Before doing your hair for the gym, give your roots a good spritz of dry shampoo. Although it might seem strange to do it before a workout, trust us, it’ll make your post-gym routine so much easier. Applying it pre-workout will help to absorb the sweat and oils during your session. This means that afterwards, your hair will be much dryer than if you had of skipped the dry shampoo.

Nail that cute gym hairdo

Choosing the right hairdo for the gym is a lot more important than you might think! Try to avoid any hairstyle that have your hair resting against the nape of your neck. This will only lead to the strands becoming a sweaty mess. We love a good high bun or braids. It’s also a great idea to pick up some spiral hair ties or a satin scrunchie. This way, you can avoid creasing in your hair.

Freshen up

After your sweaty sesh, it’s time to grab that trusty bottle of dry shampoo again. Give it another coat, focusing on the areas that have become the most oily. Grab a hair dryer and give it a quick dry. The dry shampoo will help to absorb excess sweat and oils, while the dryer will help to freshen everything up and give you that salon fresh feel. Flip your hair upside down to create a little volume and you are good to go!

Embrace the oils

If your hair just can’t seem to recover from the gym, try embracing it! A slicked back ponytail or bun can look super cute and sophisticated, especially if you are on your way to the office or a catch up with friends. The pre-gym dry shampoo will help to absorb as much of the sweat during the session as possible, so pulling your hair back post-gym can save you huge amounts of time. You can always add a few hair accessories to take the look to the next level!
