Here at Koto Hair, we are all about being eco-friendly and minimising our carbon footprint as much as possible when it comes to your hair. We are passionate about sustainability and being kind to the planet – all while embracing creativity and individuality! There are so many ways that you can lessen your carbon footprint as well, both in the salon and at home. Having a healthy hair care routine is important for having the hair of your dreams. However, it is equally important that we think about the environment. We’re here today to teach you all about what it means to be sustainable when it comes to your locks.
Firstly, why is it important to incorporate sustainable practices?
We believe that it is all of our responsibility as consumers to try and lower our impact on the environment wherever possible! And products in the beauty industry are no exception. Adding a few simple and more sustainable practices can have a far bigger impact on the world than you think. Remember, small steps add up!
Choose an eco-friendly salon
At Koto Hair, we are proudly certified members of Sustainable Salon Australian. This means that we only use products that are kind to the environment (as well as being cruelty-free) and kind to your hair! When trying to lessen your carbon footprint, it’s a good idea to do your research when it comes to the salon that you go to. Do a deep dive into the kinds of products that they use and the methods they employ. That way, you can feel good about your choice in regards to lessening your carbon footprint.
Be brand conscious
This can be applied to many areas of your life – not just hair! While it’s great if you want to do an overhaul of your entire beauty routine, starting with your hair care is a good first step. Ask your salon what products they recommend (they’ll often have them there for you!) and begin building your eco-friendly hair routine. Not only can you feel good about what you’re doing to help the planet, you can feel good about knowing you are taking the best care of your locks that you can!
Have that big cleanout
This might sound counterproductive but cleaning out your old, expired, or even harmful products can be a great way to start fresh and really assess your carbon footprint when it comes to your hair. It’s a good time to have a close look at the current ingredients of your products and determine how and where you can make some changes. It’s also a great way to see what you actually need to be buying – after all, the fewer products you use, the more you are minimising your carbon footprint.
