Hands up if you’re happy winter is finally over! Believe us, you’re not alone. When it comes to the colder months, your hair can feel like it’s been through a lot. Whether it’s dry, damaged, or just feeling a bit lacklustre, it’s safe to say, we’re all happy to wave goodbye to winter. Now that spring is here, it’s time to get serious about your haircare and make the most of this new season.
Hydration
Coming out of winter, the best thing you can do for your hair is focus on hydration! Otherwise, you may find that those dry, dehydrated strands turn into damage – not what we want. Try to incorporate a deep conditioning mask into your hair care routine at least once a week, as well as using an oil through your strands. At this point, your hair definitely deserves some TLC!
Book that trim
As we mentioned, your hair might not be feeling the best after all the havoc winter can wreak on it. One of the best things you can do is book in a trim with your hairdresser. The only way to take care of split ends is to trim them off and leaving them will only lead to further damage! Plus, split ends can make your hair look even dryer and frizzier, which leads us to our next tip…
Anti-frizz
One thing about spring and hair? The humidity starts to rise. This means that your strands can be more prone to frizz and kinks throughout the day. Definitely not what you want when you’re rocking a cute hairstyle! Keeping your hair hydrated is a great way to eliminate frizz and also protect it from drying out because of the sunnier weather. It’s also a great idea to use a lightweight serum that targets frizz for extra anti-frizz protection!
Sun protection
As the weather creeps closer to summer, the sun slowly makes its way out from behind the clouds (hello beach weather!). While you might not think the sun is strong enough to do any damage yet, it’s important to start protecting your hair as best you can. In addition to keeping it hydrated through your hair care routine, wearing a hat to keep those rays off your locks will go a long way to protecting your strands!
Prioritise scalp care
Healthy hair starts from a healthy scalp and spring is a great time to start focusing on your scalp care. Using a scalp scrub or brush is a good way to get rid of and prevent any build-up – especially as we tend to sweat more during the warmer months. Rejuvenating your scalp will help to promote healthy hair growth and luscious locks that both look and feel amazing!
